Bombardier launches Learjet NXT

By General Aviation News Staff · November 9, 2007 ·

Bombardier Aerospace has launched its all-new Learjet aircraft, provisionally named Learjet NXT, which company officials are calling “the next generation in Learjet excellence.”

A public unveiling of the new jet is expected in October 2008, in time to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the first flight of a Learjet, according to Pierre Beaudoin, president and CEO of Bombardier, which acquired Learjet Inc. in 1990.

According to officials, the company has already received 65 letters of intent for the new aircraft, which it expects to convert to firm orders over the next few months.

Targeting a high-speed cruise of Mach 0.82, the clean-sheet Learjet aircraft will have an eight-passenger stand-up cabin. Range is estimated at 3,000 nm.
