San Diego building near MYF trimmed

By General Aviation News Staff · December 21, 2007 ·

The FAA says a building near San Diego’s Montgomery Field no longer presents a hazard.

The building was under construction when it was brought to the attention of the FAA. It measured 180 feet high, roughly 20 feet past the limit for a building within a mile of the airport.

In June a stop work order was issued against the developer, Sunroad Enterprises, which was ordered to remove the building’s top two floors.

City officials threatened to withhold permits that were needed to finish the project unless the developer complied. According to local news reports, removing those floors cost $1.1 million.
