Go online for local NOTAMs

By General Aviation News Staff · January 25, 2008 ·

Pilots will be able to receive new local NOTAMs on their computers, beginning Jan. 28.

That’s when all new local (L-designated) NOTAMs will be reclassified and published on the national NOTAM system.

This means pilots won’t have to call FSS to get local NOTAMs. However, FAA officials advise continuing to make the calls until the new electronic system is up and running glitch-free.

Only new local NOTAMs will be on the system at first. Existing NOTAMs will be added as FAA staff is able to get to them.

Officials warn that it could take months before every NOTAM is available electronically
