The Foundation for Air-Medical Research & Education (FARE), the charitable arm of the Association of Air Medical Services (AAMS), has launched the MTLI Scholarship Program, funded by Metro Aviation, Inc.
The Medical Transport Leadership Institute (MTLI) enhances leadership and management of medical transportation through formal education programs emphasizing management theory and its direct practical application, according to foundation officials.
FARE will award the competitive two-year scholarship annually over the next 10 years to individuals who excel in the critical care transport community. The scholarship award will be based on the applicant’s active involvement, industry achievement level and commitment to critical care transport services. Applicants with either professional healthcare or aviation backgrounds are welcome to apply for consideration.
Application deadline for the 2009 MTLI Scholarship is Dec. 15, 2008. Award recipients will be notified by March 1, 2009.
Metro Aviation, based in Shreveport, La., has been an air medical transportation service provider since 1983 and operates more than 60 aircraft coast to coast. The company, which also specializes in air medical completions for helicopters, is an approved FAA repair station, Eurocopter service center, and offers design, engineering and manufacturing services, support and equipment for all helicopter mission and model types.
