Penn State Hershey Medical Center adds AWOS

By Janice Wood · December 18, 2008 ·

Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center (8PS5) recently completed the installation of a Belfort DigiWx II AWOS system at the Penn State Hershey Life Lion hangar on the campus of the medical center.

The Belfort DigiWx II is an automated weather system that reports FAA-certified altimeter and FAA-certified visibility with advisory winds, temperature, humidity and cloud height. The real-time weather report is available via a computer graphic screen and telephone dial-in, as well as over the Internet.

The DigiWx II is approved for FAA Part 91 and FAA Part 135 IFR approaches and is specifically designed for heliport operations.
