Texas Sport KwikBild program scheduled

By Janice Wood · January 22, 2009 ·

The next KwikBild builder’s assistance program for the Texas Sport Cub will commence Monday, Feb. 23, at Sulphur Springs Municipal Airport (KLSR) in Texas.

KwikBild is a builder’s assistance program to help amateur builders complete their own Texas Sport Cub aircraft kit in a factory setting. Customers can equip their aircraft with their choice of features and options, completing the build in as little as 21 days, according to officials at Texas Sport Aircraft Co.

The company offers customers a choice of 14- or 21-day KwikBild programs, plus paint and instrument panel options. The 14-day program consists of two six-day work-weeks, and is designed to ensure that the customer completes their aircraft through fuselage assembly and covering, ready for primer and paint. The 21-day program adds another work-week following completion of painting. In this session, the builder attaches wings and control surfaces, installs the instrument panel, and completes all firewall forward work.

The Texas Sport Cub is a derivative of the American Legend Cub. It can be certified to 1,600 lbs. gross as an experimental, amateur-built aircraft, or it can be certified to 1,320 lbs. and flown with Sport Pilot privileges.
