Sporty’s Fly-In set for May 16

By Janice Wood · January 23, 2009 ·

Sporty’s Sweepstakes airplane, a new Cessna Skyhawk with Garmin’s Synthetic Vision Technology, will be awarded May 16 during Sporty’s Annual Fly-In.

“We decided to incorporate our sweepstakes drawing into our fly-in to share with our customers the excitement of awarding a brand-new airplane,” said Sporty’s President Michael Wolf. “Of course, you don’t have to be present to win. We’ve had some funny reactions from our surprised and sometimes skeptical sweepstakes winners in the past when we’ve called them.”

Sporty’s Fly-In is now in its fifth year and, in addition to the sweepstakes drawing, Sporty’s has invited industry exhibitors and planned seminars, tours and other special events.

“The best part about the day is that it’s all free – including the seminars,” said Wolf. “We’ll even provide free hot dogs for lunch.”

Exhibitors include Garmin, Honeywell, Bose, Sandy’s Farm Residential Airpark, ACR, SkyOx, AirdMod, Arctic Air, Aspen Avioncs, Avidyne, Avmap, Cessna, Clarity Aloft, DAC International, Dial Eastern Aircraft Painting, Cardinal Helicopter Training, EAA 174, L3, Lightspeed Headsets, Logbook Pro, Parrish O’Neil, Sigtronics, Telex, Tri-State Warbird Museum, Winslow Life Rafts, Xerion, Aviation Exploring, University of Cincinnati, Eastern Cincinnati Aviation, Cincinnati Avionics, Wright Bros. Catalog, Sporty’s Cessna Sales, and Sporty’s Foundation. Representatives will be on hand to demonstrate their products and answer questions. There will also be a static display featuring new Cessna aircraft.

FAA safety seminars will be hosted by Garmin, Bendix/King, Aspen Avionics, Air Mod and others.

Sporty’s representatives will be on hand to talk about various products and services offered by Sporty’s, including introductory flights and flight training at Eastern Cincinnati Aviation, the 2009 line of Cessna single-engine aircraft, homes available at Sandy’s Farm Residential Airpark, Aviation Exploring, Cincinnati Avionics and the University of Cincinnati Professional Pilot Program.

The event will be held, rain or shine, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
