The Kitfox Classic IV has come out of retirement to help celebrate Kitfox’s 25th anniversary.
According to officials at the Homedale, Idaho-based company, 25 Classic IV kits will be produced with custom serial numbers for the anniversary.
Thousands of the Kitfox Classic IV’s have been delivered, officials said, noting they have been known by several names and variations from the Model IV-1050 to the two-place ultralight trainer known as the Lite squared.
The Kitfox Classic 4 remains suitable for both the two-stroke and four-stroke Rotax engines, although builders have adapted many other engines choices, officials said.
The lightweight, two-place sport aircraft boasts excellent STOL performance, according to company officials, who point out other features, such as the easy folding wings, which allow owners to share hangar space or keep their planes at home in a single-car garage.
Since 1984, more than 4,500 Kitfox Kits have been delivered to builders throughout the United States, Canada, and more than 42 foreign countries.
