Last Dealer-Sold Bonanza goes to Cutter Aviation

By Janice Wood · February 20, 2009 ·

Marking the end of a 63-year relationship as a leading Beechcraft dealer, Cutter Aviation at Phoenix accepted delivery of the last dealer-sold Beechcraft G36 Bonanza from the Hawker Beechcraft Company on Feb. 3.

cutter-bonanza-webThe delivery heralded the end of the Hawker Beechcraft dealer network era, which was dissolved in January when Hawker Beechcraft decided to make all sales of new aircraft factory-direct.

Finished in over-all bright red with yellow and black trim, the G36 was painted to match the first Bonanza accepted by Cutter Aviation in 1946, said Ryan Keough, Cutter’s marketing and communications manager. The FAA registration, N460YR, pays tribute to Cutter Aviation’s dealer standing “For More Than Sixty Years.” The Bonanza was accepted and flown to Cutter Aviation Phoenix by brothers William R. “Bill” Cutter and Sid Cutter, second generation owners of Cutter Aviation who took over from their father, William P. Cutter, who founded the company in 1928. Current Cutter Aviation president, third generation Will Cutter, was on hand as were more than a dozen current and past dealers and salespeople from the Beechcraft dealer network.

“Nearly two thousand Beechcraft aircraft passed through Cutter Aviation’s doors in the time we were a dealer and we thought it appropriate to mark the end of the tradition with this Bonanza,” said Will Cutter. “We were there in the beginning and now we’re here at the very end.” Cutter Aviation remains committed to the Beechcraft product line and looks forward to a bright future with pre-owned aircraft sales and maintenance service, he said.

“Beechcraft has a great product and, as evidenced from the numbers of King Airs and Bonanzas still operating today, they will remain a great product for many years to come,” Will Cutter said. “We’ll continue seeking and offering pre-owned Beechcraft aircraft as well as remaining the best option in the Southwest for experienced Beechcraft maintenance service from our authorized service centers in Phoenix, Albuquerque and Dallas.”
