RotorWay is planning an FAA-certified, two-seat, turbine helicopter that it hopes to have flying in time for EAA’s AirVenture this July.
The first production helicopter in RotorWay’s 40-year history will fill “the pressing, unmet market for a moderately priced, two-seat, turbine helicopter for use in training programs, commercial environments, private piloting, aerial photography, film and news production, military, law enforcement and a host of other applications,” said RotorWay CEO Grant Norwitz. Its price and certification target date were not provided.
The engine chosen for the new helicopter is the Rolls-Royce RR300, the same powerplant to be used in Robinson‘s R66.
RotorWay will continue selling Talon kits while it develops the turbine model, Norwitz said.
