New airport for Chicago – but there’s just one problem…

Illinois businessman Jim Bult did what every governor has found humanly impossible. He built an airport — in the same area targeted by Illinois Department of Transportation officials for decades as the spot for the next major metropolitan airport in the Chicago area, according to a recent report at SouthTownStar.com.

“I’ve been waiting and waiting for the last 20-some years and they couldn’t get it done,” Bult said. “I just want a quality runway and hangar here.”

Gov. Pat Quinn, in his budget address last week, pledged to get the state’s airport up and running near Peotone “as fast as humanly possible” to create jobs in an area smacked hard by an unforgiving economy. He becomes at least the fifth governor to support the project.
