It’s no secret that pilots are an innovative group. Stop in at any FBO and you’ll no doubt hear solutions not only on how to fix your flying or your airplane, but also the world.
That’s why we’re turning to the readers of General Aviation News, asking you to share your “big ideas.”
Those ideas can range from the philosophical – what’s needed to “fix” GA? How can we fight the bureaucrats at the TSA, FAA and other agencies who want to ground us? How can we grow GA? – to the practical ideas that make flying not only more efficient, but less expensive, safer and fun. It could be anything from the latest gadget you’ve found that’s made a big difference in your flying to a technique learned from an old-timer that needs to be passed on to the next generation.
So, what’s your big idea? Send it to comments@generalaviationnews and we’ll print it in our next issue and online to share with all our readers. No computer? You can fax your idea to 253-471-9911 or mail it to Janice Wood, General Aviation News, P.O. Box 3543, Summerville, S.C., 29483.
Please include your name, city, how long you’ve been flying and what kind of airplane you own (or fly regularly), along with your idea.
Airport Cars Club allows owners of “airport cars”, those seldom used cars placed at airports by pilots, to network their cars for the use of other member’s cars at other airports. Airport Cars Club creates a ground transportation network for GA using an already existing resource. Saving on rental cars can more then make up for the price difference at the pump.
Participating FBOs benefit by having our members driven to their airport, ramp and community.
Get NACO to publish the airport diagrams for every airport for which they have an approach diagram. Airport diagrams can provide important information to VFR pilots. I know I can find the airport diagram on the lower right side of an approach plate but would like to have a full size stand alone copy. I counted 79 airports in Illinois that NACO has approaches for but only 18 airport diagrams are published separately. Why not publish them all? They already have to diagrams.
