Avidyne, Jeppesen partner on CMax

By Janice Wood · April 6, 2009 ·

ex5000_01Avidyne Corp. and Jeppesen have teamed to make Avidyne’s CMax Electronic Approach Chart software, including Jeppesen’s worldwide coverage of airport diagrams, standard on all new EX500 and EX5000 Multi-Function Displays (MFDs).

Avidyne also will enable current EX500 and EX5000 (pictured) MFD customers to upgrade for a fraction of the previous cost for the CMax option, company officials said.

“Avidyne and Jeppesen both recognize the incredible situational awareness benefit of electronic geo-referenced airport diagrams and charts in the cockpit,” said Thomas Wede, Jeppesen Senior Vice President and General Manager, Aviation. “The ability to see your aircraft position directly on the chart dramatically reduces the potential for errors while taxiing.”

With CMax, customers can gain access to Jeppesen’s new electronic worldwide airport diagram service on their EX500 or EX5000 MFD. This new service features worldwide coverage of airport diagrams.

As part of the special CMax upgrade package, new customers will receive a 90-day trial service and JeppView PC-based electronic chart software that allows customers to view the airport layout and print the charts before flight. The upgrade costs $499.
