Garmin GPSmap 696 manual released

By Janice Wood · April 10, 2009 ·

ZD Publishing, Inc. has added a new pilot-friendly manual for the Garmin GPSmap 695/6 to its inventory.

The latest from Garmin, the 695/6 covers aviation only. Besides the aviation database, it includes AOPA’s Airport Directory, SafeTaxi, Obstacle and Terrain databases. FliteCharts is available by subscription from Garmin, which must be updated at least every 180 days to function.

The table of contents lists all the operations and the appendixes describe each page in the unit. Find the operation in the table of contents and go to the listed page to find step-by-step directions to accomplish the selected operation. An index is included to help find specialized features and terms.

Now that you have made a considerable investment in a navigation tool and information source, learn how to configure the unit to your liking and access its many features, says author John Dittmer, who began flying in 1968 and earned his flight instructor certificate that same year. This is the 18th pilot-friendly GPS manual he has written for ZD Publishing, Inc.

Look for all the manuals at Booth D-055 at Sun ‘n Fun.

Don’t understand why you must pay $3,200 for a G696. Then go out and purchase GPS696 for dummies.
