TSA names new head of Strategic Communications

By Janice Wood · April 15, 2009 ·

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) appointed Kristin Lee as its Assistant Administrator for the Office of Strategic Communications and Public Affairs, where she will oversee all external and various internal communications initiatives, according to an April 15 news release.

Lee will work directly with high-level officials within TSA and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to develop strategic communications efforts that are carried out nationwide, the release said.

“We are excited to welcome Kristin to TSA’s senior leadership team,” said TSA Acting Administrator Gale Rossides. “Her strategic communications expertise will be a great asset to this agency as we continue to evolve and meet the challenges that lie ahead.”

Most recently, Lee served as the Majority Communications Director for the House Rules Committee, where she developed and implemented communications strategy for the Committee and its chairwoman, Louise Slaughter. She previously worked on Barack Obama’s campaign in Pennsylvania as a press secretary, before which she worked on Hillary Clinton’s campaign in seven states. In addition to her work in Congress for the Rules Committee, she served as a deputy press secretary for Senator Barbara Boxer.
