Win a chance to fly in the ‘Spirit of St. Louis’

By Janice Wood · April 29, 2009 ·

The Lindbergh Foundation’s third annual online auction includes only one item – a ride in the EAA Spirit of St. Louis replica – for just 12 winners.

The replica, which hasn’t flown for a number of years, will make a rare appearance during the Lindbergh Foundation’s 2009 Award Celebration May 15-17 at the EAA AirVenture Pioneer Airport in Oshkosh.

The online auction kicked off at Sun ‘n Fun and will continue through May 11. Starting bid is $250.

“This is an amazing opportunity,” said Knox Bridges, foundation president. “If you want a logbook entry, this is it.”

Very few flying Spirit replicas exist, and the EAA replica is the only one in the world capable of taking a passenger, he added.
