Lancair shares composite expertise

By Janice Wood · May 13, 2009 ·

Lancair International Inc. of Redmond, Oregon, a manufacturer of high-performance aircraft kits, is collaborating with Innovative Composite Structures (ICS) to leverage its composite expertise.

Lancair is providing composite technology to Liquid Robotics of Palo Alto, California, a marine technology company that is developing the “Wave Glider,” a revolutionary, energy self-sufficient, autonomous ocean vehicle. All composite components of the Wave Glider will be manufactured by ICS.

Tim Ong, Lancair’s general manager, will move to Liquid Robotics as VP of mechanical engineering and will continue to consult for Lancair as needed. Neal Longwill, Lancair sales and marketing manager, and Mike Fisher, Lancair avionics manager, will assume the Lancair general manager responsibilities.

Lancair International Inc., founded in 1984, is celebrating its 25th year. It offers a selection of seven aircraft as fastbuild kits: The Lancair Legacy Fixed Gear, Lancair Legacy, Lancair ES, Lancair ES-P, Lancair IV, Lancair IV-P, and the Lancair Evolution. The company has delivered more than 2,000 kits.
