CBS shows ‘true face’ of business aviation

By Janice Wood · May 19, 2009 ·

CBS News aired an unusually positive segment about business aviation during the May 16-17 weekend. It explained to viewers the true story about the industry’s value to citizens, companies and communities across the United States.

CBS featured comments from Wes Stowers, chairman of Stowers Machinery Corporation, a Knoxville, Tennessee-based Caterpillar dealership that relies on a King Air 350 and a jet to reach places the airlines don’t fly. The CBS story explained that only 500 American cities are served by commercial airlines, while general aviation has access to 5,000 airports across the country.

“We are pleased to finally see a mainstream news organization explain the value of business aviation to companies like Stowers Machinery Corporation,” said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen.
