“Send Dad to the sky this Father’s Day,” the Pilot Journey organization suggested in a May 21 news release. “It might not be like flying to the moon, but the experience of a first-time aviation flight lesson is just about the closest thing to heaven that a son or daughter could ever give Dad on Father’s Day.”
A first flight lesson is available through the Discovery Gift Certificate program, Pilot Journey said. The Nashville-based company offers the lessons through flight schools at more than 400 airports nationwide. A lesson costs $119 and includes an FAA-Certified flight instructor for up to 40 minutes, a half-hour presentation of flight lesson details, a 25-page CD e-book to prep Dad for the experience, and a Discovery Flight video outlining exactly what he’ll do once aboard the plane.
“Imagine the look on Dad’s face when he learns that he’s going to take a real flight lesson in a real airplane,” said Gary Bradshaw, owner of Pilot Journey. “He’ll love it and never forget it. From the materials we provide to prepare him for the adventure to the professionalism of our certified pilots who will accompany and instruct him in the cockpit, he’ll be blown away by this amazing opportunity.”
Pilot Journey trips, including those bought with a Discovery Gift Certificate, count toward earning a pilot’s license, Bradshaw pointed out. For the Father’s Day gift flight, “Dad will receive a pilot logbook for recording the trip, plus a Certificate of Accomplishment and free six-month subscription to a leading aviation magazine,” Bradshaw said, adding that “the gift of flying the best deal on the gift-giving market today, and it’s certain to surprise Dad.”
For last-minute shoppers, The Discovery Gift Certificate can be ordered and received immediately via a PDF sent to an e-mail address. Pilot Journey also will print and mail the recipient a more traditional gift certificate.
