If you are a Montana student interested in aviation, there is a unique opportunity available to you this summer. The Montana Department of Transportation Aeronautics Division is sponsoring a 3-day Aviation Career Academy for sixth, seventh, and eight graders, to take place in Helena from June 25 through 27. The program includes a wilderness survival field trip, aviation ground school, aviation tours, and a flight day with preflight, flight simulator, and orientation flights.
According to Charity Watt Levis, Public Information Officer for the Montana Department of Transportation, “We get great feedback. The kids have a good time, they learn a lot, and are exposed to things that they wouldn’t necessarily be exposed to in any other situation.”
The program costs $200 and enrollment is limited. The deadline to register is June 5. Applications are available online at www.mdt.mt.gov/aviation.
