Anti-collision LED light certified

By Janice Wood · June 29, 2009 ·

An Oxley Inc. anti-collision LED light that protects military helicopters in service around the globe has been approved by the FAA for use on civilian rotary wing aircraft.

“We have been designing and manufacturing LED lighting for our military customers for over 10 years,” said Oxley Inc. Chief Executive Officer Martin Sloan. “The TSO approval of our anti-collision light enables civil operators to access rugged, high reliability products usually reserved for military aircraft.”

Several features inspired by helicopter users are built into the Oxley ROTOX anti-collision light and distinguish it from other LED lights. It weighs less than 2 lbs and is electromagnetic compliant.

The ROTOX is fully compliant with civil aviation requirements for external lighting, including color and intensity. Additionally, no separate power supply is required as the ROTOX operates directly from an aircraft 28 Vdc supply, company officials note.
