The newly-named SocialAviation.com provides a gathering place for both amateur and experienced pilots. The website, formerly known as FlyboyLounge.com, acts as an avenue for pilots to communicate with each other and share experiences.
Paralleling other networking websites such as Facebook, the revamped SocialAviation.com isdesigned specifically for aviators. “Today, sharing experiences or asking questions to other pilots is primarily done at the airport,” said Steve Voukidis, president and founder of the website. “That is one of the joys of flying but it is not always ideal or possible. When we set out to build Social Aviation, we did not want to replace the face-to-face interaction at the airport, but to deliver an online platform that complements the interaction so you can share with friends, students and instructors around the country.”
The site’s new features include a real-time stream of activity such as an hours log, photo uploading, and status updates. “We are only beginning to scratch the surface of what our website can offer,” Voukidis added. “We will continue to innovate and provide new products and services to our website and we look forward to hearing feedback from pilots across the country.”
