ChartBook EFB debuts

By Janice Wood · July 10, 2009 ·

FlightPrep has unveiled its ChartBook Electronic Flight Bag System.

chartbook_bigThe system delivers GPS and moving map, as well as sectionals, TACs, and low en route IFR charts as part of the base product. All charts are geo-referenced, meaning the actual aircraft location is depicted on the charts in real-time.

ChartBook uses a finger touch-based and high-resolution screen. Approach plates are shown almost full-scale, according to company officials, who note this makes viewing images much easier compared to smaller screens that force pilots to zoom in to read small print, hiding critical information.

Price: $1,795. Annual update subscription service is $357.
