User fee threat focus of upcoming meeting

By Janice Wood · August 6, 2009 ·

The threat of user fees continues to plague general aviation, which is why a meeting has been organized to provide information to the aviation community on ways it can work to ensure that user fees do not become part of aviation in the U.S.

The meeting, slated for Aug. 12 at the Quality Inn Ocala Hotel & Conference Center in Ocala, Florida, will feature several speakers, including Lisa Piccione, senior vice president of government affairs for the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA); Jerry Walbrun, a retired Experimental Aviation Association (EAA) staff member and president of EAA Chapter 812; Ruth Marlin, former executive vice president of the National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA) and author of “Understanding ATC Funding”; and Bob Showalter, representing the Alliance for Aviation Across America, who will report on the exorbitant cost of flying in Europe because of the long-time user fee structure in place there

The meeting is slated from 7 to 9 p.m.
