By Janice Wood · August 13, 2009 ·

The powerplant kit for the RV-12, the last in a series of six kits to complete Van’s Aircraft’s latest design, is now available.

RV12Van’s Aircraft began taking orders for the RV-12 Powerplant Kits at about 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 11, company officials report. “By Tuesday evening, we had received orders for all

of the engines that we had in stock (25),” officials said on the company’s website. “An additional 25 engines are scheduled to arrive at Van’s shortly.”

The 912ULS Rotax engine is only one of 60 components in the powerplant kit, which also includes a Sensenich ground-adjustable propeller. The kit is priced at $24,985.
