Tampa airport prepares for AOPA Summit

By Janice Wood · August 17, 2009 ·

When more than 10,000 people flock to Tampa, Florida, for the AOPA Aviation Summit, Paul Phillips wants to be prepared.

According to a story in the Tampa Tribune, Phillips, director of general aviation for the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority, is overseeing improvements to Peter O. Knight Airport, which were begun in October 2008. The project is slated to be completed by October. The Summit is slated for Nov. 5-7.

The story, in which writer Jamie Pilarcyzk erroneously calls the Summit an air show, quotes Phillips as saying:

“We’ve done a lot of improvements to make it nice for the summit. The airport will be virtually new. We’re really excited.”
