New name for BRS Parachutes

By Janice Wood · August 28, 2009 ·

BRS Parachutes, makers of whole-airframe parachutes, unveiled its new corporate identity at Oshkosh: BRS Aerospace.

CirrusSR20The name change reflects the company’s diversification, according to Larry Williams, president. While GA still accounts for close to 75% of the company’s revenue, it has since branched out into defense contracting, as well as making other safety products, such as reflective vests.

Williams also reported that testing is almost complete on the company’s first parachute for a jet, noting it had to do one more drop to finish FAA certification. The parachute will be offered as an option on Diamond’s D-JET.
