It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s a giant butterfly?

By Meg Godlewski · September 1, 2009 ·

You have probably seen airplanes painted to look like birds, but how about one painted to look like a butterfly?

MonarchDon Hathaway of Orlando, Fla., says he is used to people slowing down to take a good look at his Kolb Firestar, which is painted to look like a Monarch butterfly.

“The previous owner did the paint job,” he said from his lawn chair at Sun ‘n Fun earlier this year. “It took him a long time to create the stencils and then lay it all out. Even people who don’t really know anything about airplanes are impressed by it.”
