Aviation entrepreneur pens guide to ‘exceptional living’

By Janice Wood · September 16, 2009 ·

Sharp Details President and CEO Jim Garland has authored “The Practical Guide to Exceptional Living,” a book designed to share some of the ideas and concepts that Garland used to start and grow Sharp Details, an aircraft detailing firm, from scratch to a business with annual sales of nearly $4 million and more than 50 employees. Morgan James Publishing will release the book in early 2010.garland.jim 2

“This is a book that simply shares some of the concepts I have employed in growing my business as an entrepreneur and still managing to spend quality time with my family and friends,” said Garland. “These concepts have worked for me and my hope is that others will benefit from them as well.”

Pre-sale copies of the published version and the e-book can be ordered at ThePracticalGuideToExceptionalLiving.com or GarlandCommunication.com

Garland is donating $2 from every pre-sale of his book to the Mark Victor Hansen Foundation. Hansen is the co-author of “Chicken Soup for the Soul” and started his foundation to fight poverty through education, entrepreneurship and literacy. Garland has launched a campaign to raise $10,000 for the foundation’s Text for Success program, which assists people in obtaining their GED through the use of modern-day technology. It advances literacy as a means of giving people an opportunity to achieve three imperatives: entrepreneurship, education and empowerment. For more information: MarkVictorHansenFoundation.org.
