Toy Flights help kids, boost aviation

By Janice Wood · October 1, 2009 ·

Members of the New Bedford Pilots Association in Massachusetts will offer sightseeing flights over the state’s South Coast this Saturday to raise money to provide holiday toys and gifts for local children.

According to a story at SouthCoastToday.com, Toy Flights is an annual event that began in the late ’80s. In addition to raising funds for a good cause, the pilots want to share their love of flying with the general public, as well as boost public perception of GA and the local airport.

“We would like people to realize that there are some benefits to having an airport around,” said Dave Fredette, president of the pilots association.

Just thought I would let you know that the “holiday” you are referring to is called Chistmas. In fact, every pilot I know, including my Jewish friends, refer to this day as
Christmas. I’m sure there are exceptions, but you actually offend many more people by using the “holiday” word than by calling it Christmas.
