The Florida Air Museum has received a grant to fund a February 2010 Aviation Adventures lecture by Florida documentary filmmaker Jon Anderson in observance of Black History Month.
The subject of the lecture will be Anderson’s award-winning documentary, “Silver Wings & Civil Rights: The Fight to Fly,” which focuses on the Tuskegee Airmen.
The $1,000 grant was awarded by the Florida Humanities Council (FHC), the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. FHC is an independent, nonprofit organization that funds public programs throughout the state of Florida.
The lecture, which is free to the public, is scheduled for Feb. 19, 2010, 7 p.m., in the Florida Air Museum, which is the Sun ‘n Fun campus on Lakeland Linder Regional Airport in Lakeland, Florida.
