Legend FloatCub certified

By Janice Wood · October 4, 2009 ·

American Legend Aircraft Co.’s amphibious Legend FloatCub has been certified.

This new aircraft, based on a lightweight version of the Legend Cub, is configured with amphibious floats from Baumann Floats, LLC, of New Richmond, Wisconsin. The FloatCub is a certified Light Sport Aircraft (LSA) that meets the category’s seaplane requirements with a simple, repositionable landing gear.

Legend_FloatCubSince its first flight in July 2009, the Amphibious Legend FloatCub, has traveled cross-country from Texas to Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and Greenville, Maine, then back, according to officials with the Sulpher Springs, Texas-based company. At the 36th Annual International Seaplane Fly-In in Greenville, Maine, last month, the FloatCub took two awards, including “Best TakeOff” and “Cutest Darn Aircraft.”

Kurt Sehnert, general manager of American Legend Aircraft Co., says the FloatCub has several advantages, including, doors on both sides of the cockpit as well as an electric start.

The first customer aircraft is in production. The FloatCub sells for $159,000.
