Aircraft: Aeronca 7AC. Location: Fort Worth, Texas. Injuries: None. Aircraft damage: Substantial.
What reportedly happened: The private pilot was attempting to do a full-stop landing on runway 17, a 60-foot wide turf runway. The winds were from 050° at four knots. The touch down was fine, but during the roll out the airplane departed the left side of the runway, nosed over, and came to rest in the inverted position.
Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain direction control. The tailwind was a contributing factor.
