R.W. Martin tapped as Viking service center

By Janice Wood · November 9, 2009 ·

Viking Air Limited of Victoria, BC, Canada, has tapped R.W. Martin Inc. of Murrieta, California, as the second factory endorsed service center for the Twin Otter and Dash 7 aircraft.

This agreement authorizes R.W. Martin Inc. to provide OEM-backed support services for the Twin Otter program, including maintenance, warranty work, and Viking-recognized modifications.

R.W. Martin Inc. brings 50 years of modification expertise and comprehensive Twin Otter product knowledge to the program, currently supporting the international fleet with various FAA Supplemental Type Certificate upgrades, including RWMI DHC-6-200 Re-Life Wing Box, RWMI DHC-6-100 Wing Life Extension, and DHC-6 Freon Air Conditioning Systems, according to Viking officials.

During the Paris Air Show, Viking announced Altenrhein Aviation in Switzerland as the first factory service center for the Series 400 Twin Otter. Company officials note they anticipate announcing additional centers as Series 400 production progresses and customer deliveries commence.

Viking provides OEM support for the worldwide fleet of de Havilland heritage line of aircraft (DHC-1 through DHC-7), and is part of Westerkirk Capital Inc., a Canadian private investment firm.
