AeroRouter introduced

By Janice Wood · November 19, 2009 ·

International Communications Group, Inc. (ICG) has developed a new data router for airborne applications. The AeroRouter 800, a line replaceable unit (LRU) that uses non-proprietary architecture, is designed to be compatible with any communications system or peripheral business device.

The router provides connectivity to all common data circuits. It has two internal 802.11 a/b/g Wi-Fi transceivers that can provide internal cabin service as well as external Gatelink wireless connections. In addition, the router offers the ICG NxtMail service providing global e-mail to users with Wi-Fi capable Blackberries and iPhones and it can be used as a server with either the Microsoft or Linux operating systems. The server option includes the addition of mass storage solid-state devices and permits the loading of customer specific applications and functions.
