By Janice Wood · November 19, 2009 ·

Slovenia-based Cavok European Airtours will kick off guided self-fly European tours in 2010.

The Matterhorn is just one of the sites on the Around the Alps tour.

Three tours are planned for the inaugural season. The Adria, Alps & The Glorious Empire is a 12-day tour with 10 days of flying. The Mediterranean Spirit I is a 15-day tour with 13 days of flying, while the Around The Alps is a 14-day tour with 12 days of flying.

The average flight will be just two hours and avoid busy airspace and large airports where possible, according to Cavok officials.

Limited to six rented Cessna 172s, Cavok will coordinate your JAR pilot permit prior to your arrival in Europe. Each plane will carry just two people. Fees are $10,000-$14,000 per person and include aircraft rental, fuel, lodging, food and ground transportation.

Cavok officials note the tour areas enjoy 330 VFR days per year.
