Aspen Evolution training program debuts

By Janice Wood · November 22, 2009 ·

aspen1Launched just three years ago, Aspen Evolution Primary Flight Displays and Multifunction Flight Displays make retrofit glass cockpits possible and now have been purchased by more than 2,000 aircraft owners worldwide. Although pilots have found the Aspen Evolution easy to use, no specific training video existed until now.

“Flying the Aspen Evolution” from Sporty’s explores everything from basic setup and menus to shortcuts and advanced functions. See the PFD in action, and learn how to customize the display. The viewer can also watch the photo-quality MFD in action, with terrain, traffic and weather overlays. A full ILS approach to the Reno-Tahoe Airport is flown to show every feature of the PFD and MFD in real-world use, complete with knob twisting and button pushing.

The program also covers emergency and abnormal procedure, Sporty’s officials said.

With an introduction by former Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association President (and current Aspen board member) Phil Boyer, “Flying the Aspen Evolution” explains how the system fully integrates with existing aircraft avionics and GPS receivers.

Flying the Aspen Evolution is available in DVD format and as a download for $29.95.
