‘Miracle on the Hudson’ DVD released

By Janice Wood · December 2, 2009 ·

Gaiam Inc. recently released on DVD the Discovery Channel’s “Miracle on the Hudson and Other Extraordinary Air Crash Events,” about the successful landing of US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River. The compilation includes the Discovery Channel originals “Hudson Plane Crash: What Really Happened,” as well as “Crashes that Changed Flying.”

On Jan. 15, 2009, U.S. Airways pilot Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger III saved the lives of 155 people aboard US Airways Flight 1549 when he successfully landed an Airbus A320 passenger jet in the Hudson River. The crew was later awarded the Master’s Medal of the Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators. The DVD documents that fateful day in New York City, including video footage of the passengers waiting for rescue on the wing of the submerged aircraft, and other phenomenal events in airline history. The DVD, which runs 129 minutes, is priced at $14.98.

The DVDs are available at traditional media retail outlets and other select specialty chains, and online at Amazon.com.
