K68 add AWOS

By Janice Wood · December 13, 2009 ·

The Garnett Industrial Airport (K68), in Garnett, Kan., has just completed the installation of a Belfort DigiWx II AWOS AV system, an automated weather system that reports FAA-certified altimeter and visibility with advisory winds, temperature and humidity. The real time weather report is available over the Unicom radio as well as telephone dial-in.

“Adding the AWOS AV to our airport adds another layer of safety to the airport operations,” said Gary Ecclefield, airport manager. “Also, the weather reporting system expands the capabilities of our airport.”
