Team Chaos headlines Colorado Air Show

By Janice Wood · December 14, 2009 ·

The trio of Team Chaos will headline next summer’s Colorado Sport International Air Show, slated for Aug. 28-29, 2010, at the Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport in Broomfield, Colo.

Team Chaos features opposing solo aerobatic pilots Gary Ward flying an MX2 monoplane and Randy Harris flying a Skybolt 300, combined with Neal Darnell piloting “Flash Fire,” the team’s jet-powered truck.

Dan Buchanan flying a powered hang glider with pyrotechnics, lights and music will be in the event’s signature Twilight Air Show Saturday evening. Following the twilight performance, Saturday’s activities will conclude with a fireworks show celebrating Metro Airport’s 50th anniversary.

Additional performances include aerobatic routines by Tim Decker flying a Pitts, local air show pilot Don Nelson flying a Russian Sukhoi, and Gary Rower flying in the classic Stearman biplane, as well as a mass formation by the Red Stars, flying Chinese Nanchangs and Soviet Yaks. The United States Air Force Academy Glider Team also will be on hand. Announcing this year’s air show will be Hugh Oldman.
