EAA Skiplane Fly-In set for Jan. 23

By Janice Wood · January 6, 2010 ·

The annual EAA Skiplane Fly-In will be held Saturday, Jan. 23, at the EAA AirVenture Museum’s Pioneer Airport in Oshkosh.

In past years, more than 25 skiplanes landed at Pioneer Airport to participate in the event, according to EAA officials. Skiplane pilots who wish to participate must receive approval and flight briefings from EAA prior to landing at Pioneer Airport. Contact EAA’s Sean Elliott at 920-426-4886 or [email protected] for more information.

The majority of skiplanes will arrive (weather and runway conditions permitting) during the mid-morning of Jan. 23 and will stay until mid-afternoon. If weather or snow conditions do not permit aircraft arrivals at Pioneer Airport on Jan. 23, other activities will continue as planned, including complimentary chili and soup served from 10:30 a.m. until it is gone.

The skiplane fly-in is free of charge to the public. Shuttle services will operate from Basler Flight Service and Orion Flight Service for those landing at Wittman Regional Airport. Regular admission rates apply for guests visiting the museum.
