FAA to restrict flights over Pro Bowl

By Janice Wood · January 27, 2010 ·

The FAA will establish a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) surrounding Dolphin Stadium in Miami for the Pro Bowl game Jan. 31. The TFR will cover three nautical mile area surrounding Dolphin Stadium from the ground up to 3,000 feet, from 6:30 pm until midnight. Military or law enforcement aircraft may intercept aircraft that violate the flight restrictions.

Private pilots may not operate an aircraft in the TFR unless authorized by air traffic control. Pilots must receive a discrete transponder code assigned by an air traffic control facility, and must tune their aircraft transponder to that code before departing and at all times while in the TFR and must remain in two-way communications with air traffic. Aircraft may not loiter in the airspace.

Public safety and emergency aircraft operations, including medevac, firefighting, law enforcement and military flights may operate in the TFR.

The TFR is posted at FAA.gov.
