A free membership website for musician pilots, MusicianAviators.com, went live Feb. 1.
The new social network is designed to bring together people who love music and flying, according to developers. “Our goal is to establish a community of musician aviators from around the globe by creating a space to gather and share our passions, stories and talents with the aviation community at large, then to broaden interest in aviation by inspiring the non-aviation community to discover flight,” said founder Reid DeFever.
MusicianAviators.com was born from DeFever’s lifelong passions for music and flight. In his recent experience of eight months and 140 hours as a new pilot, he discovered there are a great many pilots who either are or were musicians in days past. DeFever has beem a professional musician for 25 years.
This is the second musician/pilot organization started in recent months. The Flying Musicians Association launched last year and held its first Fly-In MusicFest last November in Fort Worth.
MusicianAviators will hold its first Music Fly-In Feb. 7 at Santa Paula Airport (SZP) in California. Other membership benefits include: A monthly newsletter, member music, instruments, lessons & art; Pilots bLog; community building and information.
