Pops and Props Gala slated

By Janice Wood · February 7, 2010 ·

The Houston Aeronautical Heritage Society will hold the sixth Annual Pops and Props Gala & Silent Auction for the 1940 Air Terminal Museum March 27 at Houston’s original art-deco air terminal at William P. Hobby Airport (HOU).

The event offers guests a chance to enjoy the same glamorous style that characterized the golden age of civil aviation, according to organizers. Upon arrival, tuxedoed waiters will greet guests with champagne as a live band plays the music of great bands of the era. Dinner and dancing will be in the renovated atrium amidst the backdrop of aircraft on the tarmac. Guests will enjoy a seated multi-course dinner, a silent auction and dancing throughout the evening to live 1940s music.

Reserved tables for ten are now available for $1,940. Event Underwriters are also available for $7,500, and include two reserved tables for 10, an invitation for a private tour of the 1940 Air Terminal and invitations to the Underwriters’ Cocktail Reception.  A limited number of individual tickets will go on sale Feb. 15.

Proceeds from the black tie optional event will support museum operations and the ongoing restoration of the 1940 Air Terminal.
