WSDOT to host three workshops at Northwest Aviation Conference

By Janice Wood · February 11, 2010 ·

The Washington State Department of Transportation Aviation Division will host three workshops at the annual Northwest Aviation Conference and Trade Show on Feb. 20 and 21 at the Western Washington Fairgrounds in Puyallup. Representatives from WSDOT Aviation will discuss airport investments, newly proposed state airport grant assurances, and aviation land-use planning on Saturday, Feb. 20.

The workshops kick off at 9:15 a.m. with “Airport investments: How are they determined?” Learn how federal and state grants are determined and prioritized at Washington airports.

At 10:30 a.m. a workshop titled “State Airport grants aren’t free! Newly proposed state grant obligations” will cover proposed changes to grant assurances that will affect airports applying for state grants.

“Protect your airport from land-use encroachment” is the subject of the 3:30 p.m. workshop, in which participants will learn new tools for protecting airports through land-use planning. It also will review new state guidelines.
