The recently restored Flagship Detroit, a DC-3 delivered to American Airlines in 1937, will be on display at Greenville Downtown Airport (GMU) in South Carolina March 21 and 22.
Owned and operated by a private volunteer foundation, the oldest flying DC-3 in the world has recently completed a major restoration to return the exterior and interior to the original configuration. Members of the Flagship Detroit Foundation will be on hand to provide tours and answer questions about this historic aircraft. After the airshow, an opportunity to join the foundation and enjoy a “Ride Back in Time” (local flight) will be available.
The Flagship Detroit Foundation is a non-profit organization of men and women who have joined together to rejuvenate this airplane and to educate the youth and the flying public of a significant era in the history of the U. S. and world airline industry.
