EAA SportAir Workshops slated

By Janice Wood · March 23, 2010 ·

SportAir Workshop programs return to the EAA Aviation Center in Oshkosh as well as Griffin, Georgia, in the upcoming weeks. On April 9-11, the E-LSA Repairman Inspection course will be held in Oshkosh. The course allows participants to earn an FAA Repairman/Inspection certificate for their experimental Light-Sport Aircraft (E-LSA). Those who successfully complete the FAA-approved workshop are authorized to perform the annual condition inspection on their E-LSAs. The two-and-a-half day course is limited to 16 students with openings still available. EAA member price is $299.

In Griffin April 23-25, learn how to begin using TIG welding equipment at the SportAir TIG welding workshop. The two-and-a-half day session offers hands-on experience using welding equipment and materials supplied by Lincoln Electric. Students will work on materials ranging from mild steel to aluminum, along with techniques for welding 4130 steel tubing. Cost to EAA members: $359.

May 1-2 in Oshkosh, EAA SportAir presents its two-day Van’s Aircraft RV Assembly course, which provides intensive, hands-on practice. Limited to 16 students, EAA members receive a special discount price of $319, which includes all materials and equipment. As a special incentive, and in support of the workshop program, Van’s Aircraft offers a $50 discount toward an aircraft kit to all workshop attendees.

EAA SportAir Workshops are sponsored by Aircraft Spruce and Specialty, supplier of tools, materials, and support for the courses. For more information: SportAir.com.
