Following record rainfall and subsequent flooding, members of Civil Air Patrol’s Brockton Composite Squadron have flown a series of disaster relief missions to chronicle the impact in their area.
Using the squadron’s Cessna 182, aircrews have taken to the skies in their role as members of the U.S. Air Force auxiliary to obtain digital images of the flooding and the resulting damage. Missions focused on the overflow of the Taunton River and flooding in the towns of Taunton, Raynham, Bridgewater, Lakeville and Halifax.
The members also conducted an aerial survey of recent flooding that closed Norwood Memorial Airport, where both runways were inundated.
The aircrews’ images were made available to local and state emergency management agencies to assist in their post-storm recovery efforts.
