Did you solo 25 — or more — years ago? If so, you might want to check out the Silver Wings Fraternity.
Started in 1958, the fraternity requires a pilot to be 25 years past first solo. Dues are just $25 per year at the national level.
Walter Baker, of Gulf Breeze, Florida, was elected president at the national convention in Oakland, California, last November. His one-year term brought him to Sun ‘n Fun to support the local chapter’s efforts to promote aviation, and provide a respite for the members on the show grounds at their hospitality building on the fly-in’s campus.
Baker stated the fraternity’s goals are to introduce aviation to underprivileged kids, place aviation-themed books in libraries — with “thousands placed to date” — and anything that promotes aviation in general.
