Piper Aircraft and GATV are hosting a Fly-In and Poker Run to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Piper Cherokee. The event will be held Saturday, May 15, at the St. Lucie County International Airport (KFPR) in Ft. Pierce, Florida, starting at 9 a.m.
The celebration will include a poker run with stops at Stuart (SUA), Okeechobee (OBE), Sebastian (X26) and Vero Beach (VRB), with prizes for the best hand. A free barbeque lunch sponsored by Piper Aircraft will be served at noon, along with a birthday cake for the Piper Cherokee. You can also sign up to receive your passport to the main Cherokee Heritage Journey event where you could be eligible to win a Garmin GPSMAP 696 for the pilot or $5,000 toward a Sport Pilot’s license in the PiperSport for non-pilot passengers. There will aircraft on display along with aviation vendors and information on flight training.
